The cool vintage brings you the strong and deep feelings of fresh fruits, lots of strength and intensity on the palate, immense length and velvety refined tannins. Being still young to get all sensuality this wine needs time to show all layers it has.

The 2016 Romanée-Conti Grand Cru is a worthy successor to the profound 2015, wafting from the glass with aromas of wild berries, violets, peony, dark chocolate, cinnamon and exotic spices. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, ample and satiny, with an ineffable sense of completeness, searing concentration without weight, a vibrant, indeed animating line of acidity, and a long, expansive finish that concludes with a judicious touch of mouthwatering bitterness. Wines like this are the foundation of the Domaine de la Romanée-Conti's reputation. (Reviewed by William Kelley)
Decanter
As with the La Tâche, this is a touch paler in colour than the rest of the range. The aromas on the Romanée-Conti are markedly different: surprisingly expressive on first sniff, with raspberry and cherry singin (Reviewed by Anthony Rose)

Domaine de la Romanée-Conti

History

No any words need to explain who is Domaine de la Romanee Conti in the wine world. Starting in 10th century to the contemporary era DRC has reach and long history. The estate is in the middle of the Burgundy myth. Few labels arouse such admiration and passion. The magic emerged in the course of the wines are given time to take shape in the bottle cannot leave anyone indifferent. DRC has 25 hectares of vineyards, all Grand Cru. La Romanee-Conti (1,8 ha) and La Tache are monopole ownership along with significant holding of another Grand cru of Grands-Echezeaux, Echezeaux, Richebourg, Romanée St Vivant and Le Montrachet.

Technology

DRC owns exceptional vineyards and to express particularity of each one is the main goal. Biodynamic approaches inspire in working at vineyards but don’t come back on the top. Winemaking is literary simple: the grapes are partly or not at all destemmed, the temperature is never manipulated to obtain more color or more measurable aromas; the aging is carried out in new barrels and after in cellar what allows to gain a lots of finesse.

Côte de Nuits

The Côte de Nuits is located in the northern half of the Côte d'Or wine region in Burgundy. Here is the kingdom of single grape variety. The area is widely known as the home of Pinot Noir, a title reinforced by its star wines, outstanding and the most expensive. Only 5% of Côte de Nuits wines are made from other grapes – Chardonnay.

The Côte de Nuits prefers quality to quantity. It includes 24 of Burgundy's 33 Grand Cru appellations and some Premier Cru sites. La Romanee Conti Grand Cru is monopole vineyard of DRC. Covering 1,81 Ha it is situated in the middle of Cote de Nuits in commune Vosne-Romanee. The vines face east and, in some cases, lightly east-south and grow at altitudes of 250-310 meters. La Romanee-Conti vineyard has mostly brown limestone with a major clay part.
